Weekend Event-a-thon: Fleet Week, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Italian Heritage and More

There's something for everyone this fun-filled weekend: The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival returns to Golden Gate Park, the Longevity Walkathon Parade and Fair and the Rosary Rally March take place on Saturday, and the 149th Annual Italian Heritage Parade takes place in North Beach on Sunday. Fleet Week also continues through the weekend with multiple air shows.

Columbus Day: Muni Service and Parking Enforcement

Muni Service: This Monday, Columbus Day, Muni will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

Parking Restrictions Enforced: Seven-day street sweeping restrictions and parking meters (including those meters on Port of San Francisco property will be enforced.

Parking Restrictions Not Enforced: Restrictions for residential parking permit areas, Monday through Friday street sweeping and rush-hour tow-away zones will not be enforced. For complete details, visit the holiday enforcement schedule webpage.

Fleet Week

All week through Sunday

Marina Green

Fleet Week, one of the most popular events of the year, is back. This year, there will be three four-hour- aerial shows including performances by the world famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Canadian Snowbirds. Other activities include  Friday's Parade of Ships at 11 a.m., ship tours, a Marine Corps platoon drill, a Humanitarian Assistance Village and much more.

How to Get There on Muni: The Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car lines, the E Embarcadero and F Market and Wharves streetcar lines, as well as the 8 Bayshore, 19 Polk, 22 Fillmore, 28 19th Avenue, 30 Stockton, 43 Masonic, 47 Van Ness and 49 Van Ness/Mission routes will take riders close to the event. 

Muni Service Notes: Routes along or near the waterfront areas may see minor delays and crowding due to increased ridership. The Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car line will be substituted by buses on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

Friday through Sunday, various times

Golden Gate Park

Featuring over 90 acts on seven stages, the three-day Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is back for another year as San Francisco's premier free concert event. Head out to Golden Gate Park and enjoy acts from around the country and the world this weekend.

How to Get There on Muni: Riders can take the N Judah Line or the 5 Fulton/5R Fulton Rapid, 7 Haight/Noriega, 18 46th Avenue, 21 Hayes, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, 31 Balboa, 33 Ashbury/18th Street and 44 O'Shaughnessy routes close to the event in Golden Gate Park.

Muni Service Notes: Routes near Golden Gate Park may see minor delays and crowding due to increased ridership. There will be additional service on the N Judah and the 5R Fulton Rapid.

Italian Heritage Parade

Sunday, 12:30 p.m.

Fisherman’s Wharf and North Beach

The nation’s longest-running Italian Heritage Parade celebrates its 149th year this Sunday. The parade will feature Italian and Italian-American dignitaries, music, performances, floats, and representatives of Italian and Italian-American organizations and businesses.

The parade begins at 12:30 p.m. at the foot of Jefferson and Stockton streets in Fisherman's Wharf, proceeds south through North Beach on Columbus Avenue, and ends in Washington Square in front of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Parade viewing will be available throughout the route. 

How to Get There on Muni: The F Market and Wharves and E Embarcadero lines, the 8 Bayshore, 19 Polk, 30 Stockton, 47 Van Ness routes as well as the Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car lines will get riders to the event.

Muni Service Notes: There will be reroutes for the E, F, 8, 30, 39, 45 and 47. The Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car lines will be substituted by buses from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Reminder: J Church Stop Changes at Balboa Park

Due to construction for the Balboa Park Station Area and Plaza Improvement Project, the J Church Line will continue to serve alternate stops on San Jose Avenue until the fall. For details, please visit our Green Light Rail Center Track Replacement Project page.
