The U.S. Navy brings Fleet Week back with its Parade of Ships and Blue Angels air shows starting this Sunday, Oct. 1 through Monday, Oct. 9. The events and main viewing areas will be along Fisherman’s Wharf and the Marina District.
Muni will provide extra service to help carry the hundreds of thousands of attendees expected each day during the big event weekend, next Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 9. Free Muni service (including cable cars) will also be provided to military personnel who wear uniforms or present a military ID.
The Blue Angels air shows will take place on Friday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 8, from 3 to 4 p.m. each day.
How to Get There on Muni: The F Market, E Embarcadero, 8 Bayshore, 19 Polk, 22 Fillmore, 28 19th Avenue, 30 Stockton, 47 Van Ness, 49 Mission/Van Ness routes or the Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car lines will get you close to the events.
Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason Cable Car Line bus substitutions will take place on Saturday and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Other Muni routes along or near the waterfront may see crowding and minor delays due to increased ridership.
Traffic Closure: The westernmost block of Jefferson Street (west of Hyde Street) will be closed to vehicles from Friday at 6 a.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m.
Supplemental Muni Service
To accommodate the crowds for these events, Muni will provide extra service on the following lines and routes.
Friday, Oct. 6 (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- F Market & Wharves: Supplemental bus service along The Embarcadero
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
- F Market & Wharves: Supplemental bus service along The Embarcadero
- Muni Metro Lines: Extra shuttle trains in the subway
- 8 Bayshore: Southbound only to the City College campus
- 25 Treasure Island
- 28 19th Avenue
- 47 Van Ness: Along Van Ness Avenue (between Market and North Point streets)
