Happy Spring!
The Beach Street Quick-Build team has been working hard to iron out coordination details and prepare for construction following the approval of the project last December.
Since then, construction has been completed for pedestrian safety treatments on Beach Street between Jones Street and The Embarcadero! Construction crews installed light-touch pedestrian safety treatments on Beach Street between Jones Street and The Embarcadero including upgraded crosswalks, advanced limit lines, and daylighting.
Construction will begin soon for curb ramps on Beach Street between Van Ness Avenue and Hyde Street.
The SFMTA is working with SF Public Works to begin construction of 4 new curb ramps along Beach Street between Van Ness Avenue and Hyde Street. These ramps will help create accessible paths for people walking and rolling in preparation of the new two-way separated bikeway and new accessible parking and loading zones. Construction will begin in the next two weeks and is expected to last 2-4 weeks.
Construction for the rest of the project, including the two-way separated bikeway, pedestrian safety treatments, and parking adjustments will begin later this year following further coordination with project partners. Another update will be sent prior to this work beginning.
