Hot Chocolate Run
Sunday, 7:20 a.m. start time
Golden Gate Park
The Hot Chocolate 15k/5k, coined as America’s Sweetest Race, was established in 2008 and wound through the streets of Chicago, Illinois. Since then, over 200,000 participants around the country have joined in, making it one of the nation's fastest growing race series. Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the San Francisco event will begin at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park and head west toward the Great Highway where it will turn south and take runners nearly to Sloat Boulevard before looping back on a return to the finish line in the park. At the finish line, participants will be treated to music, hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and more.
How to Get There on Muni: Participants can take the N Judah Line, as well as the 5 Fulton, 7 Haight/Noriega, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, or the 44 O'Shaughnessy routes to within walking distance of the starting line.
Muni Service Notes: The 18 46th Avenue and 44 routes will have reroutes in the area of the race course. All other routes in the area of the park may see minor delays during the event.
Remember that you can take Muni for the entire day for a single $5 fare. The new $5 Day Pass, available on MuniMobile®, is part of Muni’s recent fare changes. The pass is intended to encourage a safe, convenient way to pay your fare and quickly board Muni vehicles, which reduces overall travel time for everyone. The $5 Day Pass is Muni bus, rail and historic streetcars only.
“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Thursdays for a look ahead to the weekend. Check out our Weekend Traffic & Transit Advisory for more details.
