Stop Removal at San Jose Ave & Mt. Vernon Ave Starting Saturday, September 28

Route(s) Affected

Beginning Saturday, September 28, the M Ocean View will no longer stop at San Jose Ave and Mt. Vernon Ave for both the inbound stop (toward Embarcadero) and outbound stop (toward Balboa Park).

A map shows the M Ocean View line along San Jose Avenue. Stops at Mt. Vernon are noted as discontinued.

This permanent stop removal follows the SFMTA Board’s approval of the M Ocean View Transit and Safety Project in February 2024. This change will help achieve the project goal  of improving reliability and travel times on the M Ocean View line.

The SFMTA has developed detailed policies on stop locations as well as processes for both analyzing the impacts of potential stop removals and gathering feedback from affected individuals. Few riders use these stops since they are not unique points for destinations like shopping, schools, senior centers or transfers to other lines. Riders can still use the nearby stops at San Jose Ave & Geneva Ave (inbound to the Embarcadero) and San Jose & Niagara Ave (outbound to Balboa Park).

We expect to implement more quick-build improvements in the coming months.
