Thank you for your interest in the Octavia Boulevard Enhancement Program.
Over 65 people attended our open house on June 4, 2019 at Hayes Valley Playground.
The Octavia 'Open Street' Project team presented their proposal to close the block of Octavia Street between Linden and Hayes streets to vehicular traffic in response to long-standing requests from residents to calm traffic and create more public space around Hayes Valley's central gathering area. After several years of studying temporary closures of this block tied to community events, members of the public reviewed and discussed items of concern and lessons learned directly with project staff.
The Page Street Neighborway project team engaged with interested stakeholders to review and discuss potential pilot circulation changes on and in the vicinity of Page Street to address ongoing safety and congestion issues.
In addition, comment cards were distributed and collected at the event, and many of you have taken the time to provide us with comments on the designs to make Hayes Valley a safer and more comfortable area for all road users. Thank you to all who participated!

Next Steps
Octavia 'Open Street' Project
If you missed the open house, we will be tabling at the SFJAZZ open house on Tuesday, June 11 from 5-7pm on the north side of Linden Street just east of Octavia Street.
As informed by these public outreach events, staff anticipate presenting the final project proposal to the SFMTA Board of Directors for approval in July. This would be the official public hearing for the project and your opportunity to provide your feedback, either by attending in person or writing beforehand. We will confirm the SFMTA Board hearing date and additional information via a project update and street postings.
Page Street Neighborway
The Page Street Neighborway is expected to be presented to the SFMTA Board of Directors for approval in late September or early October. Until then, the project team will be collecting baseline traffic data, considering revisions to the pilot proposal, as well as updating the environmental document and evaluation plan. We will confirm the SFMTA Board hearing date and additional information via a project update and street postings.
