Muni Metro: K, L, M & N + Historic F Line

If the J Church is the only Muni Metro line that is out of service, you may be able to take another Muni Metro line, or the F Market & Wharves historic streetcar, to your destination.

Between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station

The K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View, and N Judah serve the same stops as the J Church between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station. For information on predicted arrivals, select the appropriate station and direction of travel:

The N Judah can take you all the way to 4th and King St, near the ballpark.

Above ground, the F Market & Wharves, our historic streetcar line, serves Market Street stops between Van Ness Station and Embarcadero Station. The F also serves stops on The Embarcadero, including stops near the Ferry Building and Fisherman’s Wharf. 


BART: Between Civic Center Station and Embarcadero Station

BART serves the same subway stops as the J Church between Civic Center Station and Embarcadero Station. BART is a regional rapid transit service that can also take you to two Bay Area airports (SFO and OAK), and to cities to the south and east of San Francisco. 


Bus Alternatives for the J Church line west of Van Ness Avenue 

If you are at a stop on the J Church line without a Muni Metro alternative, there are several bus routes that can take you to stops along the normal J Church route, as well as stops near the normal J Church route. 

These buses include the 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 35 Eureka, 49 Van Ness/Mission, and BART.


14 Mission or 14R Mission Rapid

The 14 Mission and 14R Mission Rapid run parallel to the J Church on Mission Street, between Mission St. & San Jose Ave. and Salesforce Transit Center.

You can connect to the 14 Mission and 14R Mission Rapid by taking one of the following buses. All of the following buses make stops along the normal J Church route:


35 Eureka

The 35 Eureka runs from Glen Park BART Station (Bosworth St & Diamond St) to Castro Station Westbound / Castro Station Eastbound.

49 Van Ness/Mission

The 49 Van Ness/Mission runs parallel to the J Church on Mission Street, between Ocean Ave/Balboa Park BART Station and Van Ness Station Westbound / Van Ness Station Eastbound.

You can connect to the 49 Van Ness/Mission by taking one of the following buses. All of the following buses make stops along the normal J Church route:


BART

You can take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from Balboa Park or Glen Park stations to the Mission District, Downtown San Francisco, or the East Bay. Use the BART Trip Planner to find the right train and nearest station.
