Editor’s Note: Many thanks to Travis Fox, who heads our Technology & Performance shop, for this special post.

We conduct a lot of surveys here at the SFMTA. We think it’s important to get specific input from our customers (that’s you) on what we do and how we do it. One of our biggest survey efforts is our ongoing Customer Advisory Panel that tracks the feedback of thousands of locals on our performance and new initiatives. We’re looking for more participants and hope you’ll join. Input from our advisory panel helps us target areas for improvement and track progress on key San Francisco transportation initiatives like Muni Forward, Transportation 2030 and Vision Zero.

Did you know that last June, more than 2,300 community members collaborated in the design of our new Muni fleet? Survey responses from customers like you helped the SFMTA create new decals to convey important safety information to Muni riders. You also told us that we needed to improve the frequency and reliability of Muni vehicles. We heard you loud and clear, and we’ve responded by making the largest set of service upgrades in decades.

We need your feedback now more than ever as we continue to improve mobility in San Francisco with safety, technology and service upgrades. Our quarterly queries take less than eight minutes to complete and help shape future investments in our city’s transportation system. The next round will start in early June.  Once in a while, we’ll also ask you to answer some questions on special projects, like the Muni vehicle design.

Joining our customer advisory panel is easy – register by visiting our panel enrollment page and completing a quick questionnaire. You’ll receive an email with the invitation to weigh in on topics ranging from ride sharing to pedestrian safety. As always, we’ll share the results with you after each survey. You’ll also have a chance to be selected to participate in new programs like the Muni Mobile Fare Payment pilot.

Two Muni trolley buses and one motor bus with a bike in its front rack pass each other on Market Street at 5th Street wit pedestrians and traffic around them.

With your help, we can make our streets safer and Muni more reliable.
