Introduction
The SFMTA is eager to hear your comments, compliments and complaints about transportation services provided by other entities who, depending on the service, the SFMTA may regulate or permit. These services include:
- Autonomous vehicles / driverless cars (regulated by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and California Public Utilities Commission)
- Bikeshare (stationless bikeshare is permitted by the SFMTA; stationed bikeshare is contracted by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and administered by the SFMTA)
- Commuter Shuttles (permitted by the SFMTA)
- Courier Network Services / On-demand delivery services (no regulations)
- Mobility Permit Harmonization (proposal to create a Proof of Concept Authorization (POCA) by the SFMTA)
- Private Transit Vehicles (permitted by the SFMTA)
- Ride-hail services / Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) (regulated by California Public Utilities Commission)
- Shared On-street Vehicles / Car Share (permitted by the SFMTA)
- Scooter Share (permitted by the SFMTA)
- Shared Electric Mopeds (permitted by the SFMTA)
- Taxis (regulated by the SFMTA)
The SFMTA may use public feedback about these and other emerging mobility services in the following ways:
- To guide enforcement of traffic laws governing service users
- To evaluate permittees and enforce permit terms and conditions
- To inform SFMTA and city policy, and
- To inform other public agencies that may have jurisdiction over a service.
