We’re excited to announce the official kick-off of the six-month boarding zone pilot evaluation period will start Monday, April 3. As a reminder, the boarding zone pilot includes visible painted street markings and new signage at five transit stops along Taraval Street. The goal of the pilot is to improve safety for people getting on and off Muni, while preserving parking within the commercial areas of Taraval.
Over the next six months we will be evaluating the effectiveness of the street markings and signage in getting drivers to stop behind loading trains. Unless these measures increase that rate to 90 percent, and no one is injured at one of the pilot locations, boarding islands will be installed starting in 2018.
