Project Introduction
The back lot of the Muni Metro East (MME) Rail Facility has been used as an SFMTA storage yard since it opened. Adjacent to the MME rail yard, the back lot has stored a variety of equipment and bulky materials, including rail tracks, poles for the OCS wires that power Muni trains and trolley buses, and other miscellaneous transit items. The site will undergo minor upgrades so that electric trolley buses can also be stored there. To keep stored vehicles in a state of good repair, bus batteries would be charged on-site to prevent deterioration from non-use. Buses would enter and exit the site from Maryland Street.
