Dreamforce Convention
Sunday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 19: Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets will be closed for the Dreamforce Convention beginning at midnight, Sunday, Oct. 5 and continuing through 10 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19.
Sunday, Oct. 12: Beginning at 10 p.m., the eastern half of 4th Street between Mission and Folsom streets will be closed.
Monday, Oct. 13 through Thursday, Oct. 16: During these dates, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., each day:
- NO traffic will be allowed on 4th Street between Mission and Howard streets, except Muni buses and shuttles
- Vehicle access to Howard Street between 5th and 4th streets and to 4th Street between Howard and Folsom streets will be via Howard Street at 5th Street
Tuesday, Oct. 14, through Thursday, Oct. 16: The Salesforce Corporation will be holding its yearly Dreamforce Convention at the Moscone Center. Conference hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. An attendance of 30,000 is expected at Moscone Center North, South and West. The convention and street closures will create significant traffic congestion between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday, Oct. 13 to Thursday, Oct. 16 in and around Moscone Center including: 1) immediately east of 3rd Street; and 2) 4th Street from Market Street to and Mission Street between 3rd and on 4th Streets.
Travelers are encouraged to take public transportation or use alternate routes. There will be heavy pedestrian traffic in the area.
From Sunday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 19, Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.
There will be a signed bicycle detour for people on bikes on Howard Street to turn north at 2nd Street to Market Street. People on bikes who wish to stay on Howard Street will have the option to dismount at Howard and 3rd streets and walk their bicycle through the event along the north sidewalk.
Signage will be placed in advance of the street closures and detour routes.
Caltrans will activate electronic message signs on major freeways entering the city to notify motorists of the closures.
SFMTA Parking Control Officers and San Francisco Police Officers will be deployed at key intersections throughout the closures.
There will be no impact on Muni service.
There will be temporary taxi stands for pick up and drop off only:
- White Zone at W Hotel, north side of Howard Street between 3rd Street and Hawthorne Street
- White Zone at Intercontinental, north side of Howard Street at 5th Street
- Southside of Howard Street (westbound) between 4th and 5th streets
Lower Polk Live!
Friday, Oct. 17: Lower Polk Live! is a new neighborhood celebration that brings together music, art and community right on Polk Street. This free event will take place on Polk Street between Bush and Sutter streets, from 4 to 9 p.m. For event details visit https://discoverpolk.org.
The following street closures will be required from noon to 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17:
- Polk Street between Bush and Sutter streets
- Fern Street between Van Ness Avenue and Larkin Street
The Muni route 19 Polk route will be impacted.
Event at Chase Center
Friday, Oct. 17 through Saturday, Oct. 18: There will be multiple events to be held at the Chase Center:
- Friday, Oct. 17: The Warriors will host a pre-season game against the LA Clippers. Game will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 18: Concert performance by Maroon 5 will take place. The show will start at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Muni will provide supplement 78X Arena Express service:
- Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
- Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center on 16th Street to 16th Street BART Station will run until the clears.
Special Event Parking Rates
During basketball games and other area major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $12 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on www.sfmta.com/special-event-parking.
Street Closures
To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.
Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
No Parking Zone
To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:
- 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
- Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)
Taxi Stands
There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.
Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.
Other pickup/drop-off locations near Chase Center
- 4th Street, which connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.
- Owens Street, which also connects to Chase Center via the Gene Friend Way pedestrian path on the UCSF campus.

No Kings Rally
Saturday, Oct. 18: A march will take place from Embarcadero Plaza up Market Street to Civic Center Plaza. For more details visit https://indivisiblesf.org.
Heavy traffic and congestion are anticipated, particularly areas in north of Market Street and east of Van Ness Avenue. Transit delays along the Market and Mission transit corridors should also be expected. Use of Muni Metro for transit to and from downtown is recommended.
Potrero Hill Festival
Saturday, Oct. 18: The annual Potrero Hill Festival will take place in the Potrero Hill neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 20th Street between Wisconsin and Missouri streets. An attendance of 3,000 is expected. For event details visit potrerofestival.com.
The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- 20th Street between Wisconsin and Missouri streets
- Connecticut Street between 19th Street and southerly terminal
- Missouri Street between 19th and 20th streets
- Intersection: Connecticut and Missouri streets at 20th Street
The 55 Dogpatch Muni route will be affected.
Clement Street Art Fair
Saturday, Oct. 18: The Clement Street Art Fair, a fun filled day of lively music, local makers, and great community, will offer a festive fall afternoon filled with creativity, community, and entertainment. The event will take place on Clement Street between 6th and 8th avenues from noon to 5 p.m.
The following street closures will be required from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Clement Street between 6th and 8th avenues
- 7th Avenue between Geary Boulevard and California Street
There will be NO impact on Muni service.
Bearrison Street Fair
Saturday, Oct. 18: The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the Bears of San Francisco will be holding the third annual Bearrison Street Fair. The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m., primarily on Harrison Street between 10th and 13th streets. Expected attendance is 2,500. For more details visit https://www.bearrison.org/.
The following street closures will take effect from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday:
- Harrison Street between 10th and 13th streets
- 11th Street between Folsom and Division streets
- 12th Street between Bernice and Harrison streets
Taxi Stands
There is one temporary taxi stand located on the 390-398 block of 10th Street at Harrison Street for pick-up and drop-off only
The following Muni routes will be impacted: 9 San Bruno, 12 Folsom and 27 Bryant.
Sunday Streets Excelsior
Sunday, Oct. 19: The Sunday Streets event will be held in the Excelsior neighborhood. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is put on by Livable City with sponsorship and support from SFMTA and other City agencies to promote active lifestyles and bicycle and pedestrian activities. These events will close streets to automobile traffic and turn them over for bicycle and pedestrian activities. For event details visit: www.sundaystreetssf.com/excelsior.
The following streets will be required from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
- Mission Street between Theresa Street and Geneva Avenue
- Cotter Street between Mission Street and Alemany Boulevard
- Francis Street between Mission Street and Alemany Boulevard
- Santa Rosa Avenue between Mission Street and Alemany Boulevard
- Onondaga Avenue between Mission Street and Alemany Boulevard
- Seneca Avenue between Mission Street and Alemany Boulevard
- Ocean Avenue between Persia Avenue and Mission Street
The following Intersections will be closed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
- Amazon Avenue at Mission Street
- Seneca Avenue at Mission Street
- Italy Avenue at Mission Street (local access for Safeway parking lot only)
- France Avenue at Mission Street
- Onondaga Avenue at Mission Street
- Russia Avenue at Mission Street
- Leo Street at Mission Street
- Ruth Street at Mission Street
- Persia Avenue at Mission Street
- San Juan Avenue at Mission Street
- Norton Street at Mission Street
- Brazil Avenue at Mission Street
- Harrington Street at Mission Street
- Santa Rosa Avenue at Mission Street
- Excelsior Avenue at Mission Street
- Francis Street at Mission Street
- Cotter Street at Mission Street
The following Muni routes will be affected: 14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid; 49 Van Ness/Mission and 52 Excelsior.
The 29 Sunset Muni route may experience delays as it crosses the event area.
Top of the Hill Festival
Saturday, Oct. 18: The 2nd annual top of the Hill Festival will take place at the top of the Hill Daly City area from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This event is sponsored by the City of Daly City’s Economic and Community Development Department.
The following street closures will be required from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18:
- Mission Street between Bepler Street and Vista Grande Avenue
- John Daly Boulevard between Santa Barbara Avenue and Mission Street
- Theta Ave between Santa Barbara Avenue and Mission Street
- Vista Grande Avenue between Santa Barbara Avenue and Mission Street
- Hillside Boulevard between Mission Brunswick streets
- Wellington Avenue between Mission and Irvington streets
- Intersection: Mission Street & John Daly Bouldvard
- Frontage Street, next to Mission Street between San Jose and Crocker avenues
The following Muni routes will be impacted: 14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid and 58 Lake Merced.
CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES
NEW: Caltrans Work—04-1Q802 US-101 (Hospital Curve)
Starting the week of Oct. 20, the construction project will be upgrading drainage along US101 between Cesar Chavez Street and the interchange of US-101/I-80. Two of three traffic lanes will be closed as listed:
- Daily closure: From 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to the next day, Monday through Friday
- Weekend closure: From 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, Saturday and Sunday

NEW: Caltrans Work—04-0X5804 I-280 and US-101
Monday, Oct. 20 through Wednesday, Oct. 22: To facilitate Caltrans construction work to install wrong-way signage and striping, the following on and off ramp closures will be required as listed:
- Northbound 101 Off Ramp to 3rd Street will be closed from 10 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 to 7 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21
- Northbound 280 Off Ramp to Cesar Chavez Street will be closed from 1 to 4 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20
- Southbound 280 Off Ramp to Mariposa and 18th streets will be closed from 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 to 7 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21
- Southbound 101 Off Ramp to Alana Way will be closed from 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 to 7 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22
- Northbound 101 Off Ramp to Bayshore Boulevard will be closed from 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 to 7 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22
- Southbound 101 Off Ramp to San Bruno and Paul avenues will be closed from 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 to 6 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22
Signage will be placed in advance of these closures and detour routes.
UPDATE: SFPUC Geary Boulevard Sewer and Water Replacements
Now until 2027: Replacement work of sewer and water lines is currently taking place along Geary Boulevard between 32nd Avenue and Stanyan Street. Due to construction work at multiple locations, some of the bus stops for Muni routes 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid will be temporarily relocated nearby. Riders should look for orange signage at impacted bus stops.
ONGOING
ONGOING: Sewer Replacement and Street Reconstruction in the Wharf Area
Now through Mid-October: As part of this work, bus stops will be relocated and some bus lines will be rerouted. The work area is Powell Street between Jefferson and North Point streets, and, on North Point Street between Mason and Powell streets. The following Muni routes will be impacted by the construction work:
