The Fulton Street Safety and Transit Project is about 75% finished.
Work on this project began the week of October 21, 2024. Over the past four months, construction crews have worked on four intersections:
- Fulton Street and Arguello Boulevard
- Fulton Street and 6th Avenue
- Fulton Street and 8th Avenue
- Fulton Street and 10th Avenue
At each intersection, workers have upgraded storm drains, extended some parts of the sidewalk to create larger bus boarding areas, and installed bus pads.
This month, workers will install traffic signals that are easier for drivers to see. They will also continue construction on bus pads and bus boarding areas. We expect the project will be 100% complete by early May.
Here is what you can expect to see on Fulton Street in the coming weeks and a summary of what has been completed so far.
What’s Next: Construction at 10th Avenue, Traffic Signal Poles and Bus Shelters
Work at Fulton Street and 6th Avenue is wrapping up. In early March, workers started construction at Fulton Street and 10th Avenue.
In the final weeks of March and into April, construction may affect traffic going in and out of the underground garage at the intersection of Fulton Street and 10th Avenue. This garage provides parking for the de Young Museum and other attractions at Golden Gate Park. Signs will be posted near the garage with information about detours.
The final phase of the Fulton Safety and Transit Project will be re-installing bus shelters removed during construction and upgrading traffic poles in at the project intersections.
