Proposals Received from Developer Teams

The request for proposals (RFP) period closed today, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. PST.

The SFMTA has met another milestone in the developer selection process for the Potrero Yard Modernization Project. The project’s Request for Proposals (RFP) period closed today, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. PST, and the San Francisco Department of Public Works, on behalf of the SFMTA, received proposals from all three shortlisted teams: Potrero Mission Community Partners, Potrero Neighborhood Collective and Potrero Yard Community Partners.

This first-in-the-nation joint development transit project would replace the SFMTA’s obsolete bus yard and maintenance building in the Mission District with a single, integrated facility consisting of a bus maintenance/storage facility and a mixed-use residential and commercial development.

The bus maintenance/storage facility would serve the SFMTA’s fleet as it grows and transitions to battery electric vehicles.  It would also support Muni operations, maintenance, and cleaning services and ensure that essential SFMTA staff are able to safely and effectively perform their jobs.

The project seeks to maximize the City’s affordable housing goals. Initial targets are for up to 575 housing units, with the percentage of affordable units ranging from a minimum of 50% up to 100%.

The next project milestone will be the selection of the winning developer, scheduled for Spring 2022.
