Puppies and kittens, food and coffee, playing and relaxing - in the middle of a street near Union Square? It must be Winter Walk.
Winter Walk SF has returned for a third holiday season, which means a temporary two-block promenade is now in place on Stockton Street, between Geary and Ellis streets. Now until January 1 is your chance to enjoy the scene of a downtown street filled with people strolling, enjoying food trucks, coffee carts and beer gardens, all enlivened with a dazzling host of events.
Winter Walk will feature a colorful nightly light show, live music and Dickens Carolers. This year, the SF SPCA will even bring its Kitten Cuddle Experience out to the plaza. Are you there yet?
This is a transformation we’re thrilled to help create each year in collaboration with the Union Square Business Improvement District. During the rest of the year, most of the space on these two blocks of Stockton must serve as a construction area for the Central Subway and its Union Square Station, which will open in 2019. As a tradition started in 2014, during our holiday break from construction we cover up the area and lay down artificial turf to turn it into a winter wonderland.
