Due to a supplier delay, the K Ingleside stops at Ocean Ave & San Leandro Way and Ocean Ave & Miramar Ave in the outbound direction (toward Balboa Park) will remain under construction and out of service until Saturday, September 7
We expect stops to open on Saturday, September 7 following testing of the newly constructed transit islands.
Muni Service Impacts:
- While the Ocean Ave & Miramar Ave outbound stop (toward Balboa Park) is out of service, riders can use stops at Ocean Ave & Jules Ave or Ocean Ave & Lee Ave.
- While the Ocean Ave & San Leandro Way outbound stop (toward Balboa Park) is out of service, riders can use the stop at Ocean Ave & Aptos Ave.
- All inbound stops (toward Embarcadero Station) remain in service.
Traffic Impacts:
- While each island is under construction, Ocean Avenue traffic will be limited to one lane in that direction on the affected block. However, there is no planned impact to traffic in the other direction. Drivers should use caution and be mindful of workers directing traffic.
Parking impacts:
- In advance of construction, we have planned permanent parking removals at each stop.
- Additional temporary impacts to parking are also likely. Please watch for signs.
Noise impacts:
- There may be some noise during brief excavation work.
We expect construction to take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day.
Upgraded Stops at Ocean Ave & Aptos Ave are Complete
Construction at both stops at Ocean Ave & Aptos Ave have been completed, and are in operation as of Monday, August 19.
These quick-build islands will lengthen and widen boarding islands for the K Ingleside at four stops, which will improve accessibility and safety for riders. Once all are upgraded, we will operate two-car trains on the K Ingleside, doubling capacity on Ocean Avenue and removing delay at West Portal.
This quick-build implementation follows the SFMTA Board’s approval of the K Ingleside Rapid Project in March 2024. We expect to implement more quick-build improvements later this fall.
