Key Takeaway: Expanding and improving enrollment options for SF Paratransit programs will make it easier and more convenient for customers to sign up.
There are currently several ways to apply to SF Paratransit programs, depending on the program:
- Online applications are only available for the Shop-a-Round and Van Gogh programs.
- Essential Trip Card (ETC) applicants are encouraged to apply over the phone but they can apply in-person if needed.
- Paper applications are required to enroll in the SF Access, Paratransit Taxi, and Group Van programs.
Expanding the availability of online applications may reduce the barrier to entry for some applicants.
Enrollees are currently required to take their identification card photos in-person at the SF Paratransit offices. This may be a burden for enrollees who do not have ready access to transportation, especially those who live in the out-lying areas of San Francisco. Using existing technology, we could potentially develop alternative procedures to more easily accommodate customers.
SF Paratransit will be implementing an online application for those enrolling in the Essential Trip Card program. SF Paratransit will also be evaluating the possibility of accepting ADA Paratransit applications online.
