This Wednesday is International Walk and Roll to School Day, when young students get to school with their parents and caregivers by foot and bike.
This celebration to encourage the healthiest, most sustainable and fun ways to get to school has boomed in popularity since it started 21 years ago. At last year's event, more than 13,000 San Francisco students from 95 public and private schools participated, including more than 85 percent of the city's public elementary schools.
This year, organizers aim to set a new record by getting 16,000 students from 100 schools to take part. The SF Safe Routes to School Partnership will reward participating students with free goodies at schools.
Join us by taking a stroll or bike ride with your young ones to school on Wednesday. You can find more info about Walk and Roll to School Day from the SF Safe Routes to School Partnership and Walk SF.
