I live in Northeast Mission—what does this mean for residents and visitors?

Residents in the Northeast Mission will be eligible for residential permit parking (RPP). 

  • Three (3) types of RPP in the Northeast Mission:
    • 2-hour RPP: enforced Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm (green markings on the proposal)
      • Residents with a permit are exempt from the time limit, meaning they do not need to move after 2 hours and may park all day.
      • Visitors without a permit must move after 2 hours, Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm
    • 4-hour RPP: enforced Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm (yellow markings on the proposal)
      • Residents with a permit are exempt from the time limit meaning they do not need to move after 4 hours, they may park all day.
      • Visitors without a permit must move after 4 hours, Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm
    • Pay or Permit RPP: enforced Monday-Saturday from 8 am-6 pm (pink markings on the proposal)
      • Residents with a permit are exempt from payment, meaning they may park all day without paying for the meter/pay station.
      • Visitors without a permit must pay for parking at the pay station, online or by phone, Monday-Saturday from 8 am-6 pm
         
  • How do I get a permit
    • To obtain a permit online, please visit the Residential Parking Permit (RPP) website
    • To obtain a permit in person, please visit the SFMTA Customer Service Center at 11 South Van Ness
      • Northeast Mission permittees may make monthly payments at the Customer Service Center
    • Permits are limited to 1 (one) per driver with the license and vehicle registered to address in the Northeast Mission

Other regulations

  • Paid parking (blue markings on the proposal)
    • New meters/paystations would start at $0.50/hour
    • Enforced Monday-Saturday from 8am-6pm
    • No time limit, can pay to park all day with the exception of a few blocks
       
  • Free, 4-hour time limit (orange markings on the proposal)
    • Everyone must move vehicle after 4 hours
    • Enforced Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm
