Effective March 15, 2025
The SFMTA is making adjustments to Muni service as part of our ongoing efforts to manage financial challenges while maintaining reliable transit for our riders. As part of these efforts, we are implementing changes to the 30S Stockton Short route to reduce redundancy while enhancing maintaining robust service between Chinatown and SoMa.
Key Changes to the 30S Stockton Short
Initially, the SFMTA proposed reducing southbound service on the 30S Stockton Short from Post Street to the Caltrain Station, where the 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton, and T Third already provide service. However, after receiving valuable community feedback, we have modified the timing and routing of these changes:
- Until March 15: The 30S Stockton Short will continue to operate on its original route to accommodate riders during the Central Subway closure for water repair work.
- Starting March 15: The 30S Stockton Short southbound will turn left at Folsom, left on Third, and then rejoin its original northbound route.
- Riders traveling to Caltrain can continue using the 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton, and T Third.
This change allows us to use the same resources to provide more transit coverage. It does, however, result in slightly less frequent service on the revised 30S Stockton Short route.
We will be monitoring the new routing to evaluate traffic impacts and travel times and will make adjustments as needed in future service changes.
