Vision Zero Signal Retiming

The Vision Zero Signal Retiming project enhances pedestrian safety by retiming up to 175 traffic signals in San Francisco to add leading pedestrian intervals. Where possible, signal timing will also be updated to set pedestrian clearance times using a 3 feet per second walking speed. Updated green, yellow, and all-red timing will be implemented at many locations and improved signal synchronization for key street corridors where possible.

The project is funded by a grant from the Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

Project Locations

The project will implement updated traffic signal timing where appropriate at signals along the below listed corridors:

• North Point Avenue between Stockton and Polk streets, Bay Street between Stockton and Fillmore streets, and Marina Boulevard between Laguna and Scott streets.
• The Embarcadero between North Point Avenue and King Street, and King Street between The Embarcadero and 5th Street.
• Geary Boulevard between Collins Street and 36th Avenue, Park Presidio Boulevard between Lake and Fulton streets, and 25th Avenue between Lake and Fulton streets.
• Fell Street between Octavia Boulevard and Stanyan Street, and Oak Street between Octavia Boulevard and Stanyan Street
• Dolores Street between 14th and 23rd streets, Guerrero Street between Duboce Avenue and 25th Street, Valencia Street between 14th and 25th streets, and Folsom Street between 14th and 24th streets
• Mission Street between Avalon and Sickles avenues, and Geneva Avenue between San Jose Avenue and Prague Street
• Various other signalized intersections throughout San Francisco
