Flower and Garden Show

Wednesday-Sunday, April 4-8
Cow Palace

Greenthumbs from around the country will converge on the Cow Palace from Wednesday, April 4 through Sunday, April 8 for the 2018 San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. Started in 1985 as a fundraiser for the San Francisco Friends of Recreation and Parks, this expo has grown to cover nearly 6 acres and features designer gardens, demonstrations by world-class floral designers, seminars with professional gardeners and nursery owners and wide selection of specialty shops to help anyone with an interest in gardening, landscaping, or floral arranging.

How to Get There on Muni: Riders may take the K Ingleside/T Third Line as well as the 8 Bayshore, 9 San Bruno or 56 Rutland routes to the event.

Muni Service Notes: There are no planned service changes for this event. Routes in the area may see some increased ridership.

Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon

Sunday, 5:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Pier 39

If you enjoy running and live music, then this Sunday's sixth annual Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon is just the event you've been looking for. What began in 1998 as a simple idea of a marathon with live music playing along its course, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series has spread across the country and each year more athletes participate in its events than any other running series in the United States. The series has also raised over $310 million for participating charities over the years. This year the route has been changed and will have a new starting line next to Pier 39. Runners will then proceed west through the Wharves, the Marina, the Presidio and over the Golden Gate Bridge before returning to the finish line in Aquatic Park.

How to Get There on Muni: Runners and spectators alike may take the E Embarcadero or F Market and Wharves lines, as well as the 8 Bayshore, the 19 Polk, 28 19th Avenue, 30 Stockton, 39 Coit, or 47 Van Ness routes close to the starting line.

Muni Service Notes: The F Line, 19, 28, 39, and 47 routes will have reroutes. Minor delays are possible for coaches in the area of the race as it proceeds along its course and increased ridership may be possible before and after the race.

Bus Shuttle Substitute for California Cable Cars: The gearboxes that power the cable car system require maintenance. That work will begin next Friday, April 13th at 1:30 p.m. and will continue until the end of service on Monday, April 16. Bus shuttles will substitute cable car service on California Street between Van Ness Avenue and Drumm Street. Read more about this on our project page

Reminder of Weekend Early Closures of Twin Peaks Tunnel: This Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 there will be preparatory work taking place inside Twin Peaks Tunnel ahead of the summer closure. Stations will close early on Friday and Saturday nights to provide extra time to work inside the tunnel. Buses will run in place of the K, L and M lines. For additional information on the project and for details on getting around during the shutdown, check out our project page.

“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a look ahead to the weekend. Check out our Weekend Traffic & Transit Advisory for more details.
