The Dewey Area Traffic Calming Project started work on a proposal for local streets in the summer of 2013. Three community working group meetings were held in which residents identified locations for further study, evaluated traffic speed, volume, and collision data and proposed traffic calming measures for streets identified as needing traffic calming.
A community meeting to discuss the traffic calming proposal identified by the SFMTA and the Dewey Area community working group is being held October 8, 2013 in the auditorium at West Portal School (5 Lenox Way), from 6 - 7:30 p.m..
If approved by neighbors, the proposal will go through the City legislation and Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors’ approval process. If approved, six proposed speed humps will be constructed in spring 2014. The remaining construction for the project is anticipated in 2015.
