Note: Information on this page is subject to change as we receive new information leading up to the event. We will flag any updates in this section as necessary.

Event Summary

Weekend events for the U.S. Navy Fleet Week begin Friday with a Parade of Ships at 11 a.m. and an Air Show on Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Ships will be docked at various piers and are available for visits from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Muni will provide extra service along the northern and eastern waterfront. The F Market & Wharves historic streetcars will switchback at Pier 39. Read below for more detailed information.

Getting Around on Muni

Muni provides a host of transit options to help get you to and from Fleet Week events, from the Parade of Ships to the air shows on October 9-11. Depending upon your intended destination, the lists below offer your transit choices for Fleet Week activities.

Note: Routes marked with an asterisk (*) indicate that service changes may be in effect, so please check the table in the Muni Service Information section for more information.

Muni Service Information

  • On Saturday and Sunday, the F Market & Wharves historic streetcars will switchback -- changing directions from inbound to outbound -- at Pier 39.
  • On Saturday and Sunday, Powell/Mason Cable Car Line will have partial bus substitution service.
  • On Saturday, Powell/Hyde Cable Car Line will have partial bus substitution service.

Other Muni Information

The 28 19th Avenue, 30 Stockton and 49 Van Ness/Mission routes may experience minor service delays near the Van Ness terminal due to increased congestion and pedestrian activity.

If you plan to travel to Fleet Week events from outside the city, be sure to visit the websites of our regional transit partners for information on their routes, schedules, fares, and any Fleet Week service changes they may be planning.

How to Pay Your Fare

All listed transit options, including Muni, allow for quick, easy fare payments via either a physical or digital Clipper card or by tapping your contactless bank card at a Clipper reader.

Note: In support of our military personnel, the SFMTA will offer free Muni service (including Cable Cars) to those in uniform or those who present a valid military ID card during Fleet Week.

Rideshare Information

Those considering rideshare services provided by autonomous vehicles (e.g. Waymo) should be aware that these services will have designated boundaries (geofencing) to help avoid traffic congestion and maintain pedestrian safety near the waterfront. The following geofences will be active for pick-ups/drop-offs Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Traditional rideshare providers such as Uber and Lyft and taxis will be available without geofence restrictions.
