Director of Safety Division
Melvyn Henry Jr. has been Chief Safety Officer for the SFMTA since 2012 and is responsible for the Agency’s planning and management of transit system safety programs. Mr. Henry has twenty-seven years of transit experience in the bus, light and heavy rail industries and has been a member of the APTA Rail Transit Standards Committee since January 2008.
Prior to joining the SFMTA, Mr. Henry served as Deputy Chief of System Safety at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. He has been involved in sixteen rail system expansions and one rail start-up in San Diego, Dallas, Houston, Washington D.C, Atlanta and San Francisco.
