Turn restrictions go into effect beginning next week
Left-turn collisions are responsible for 40% of traffic deaths in San Francisco. To improve safety for people walking, left-turn restrictions are being made at key intersections along Geary beginning next week. In other locations on Geary where similar turn restrictions have been implemented, the number of reported vehicle collisions related to left-turn movements have been reduced and there have been no subsequent reported pedestrian collisions. Learn more about how turn restrictions improve safety.
In addition, westbound right turns from Geary onto northbound 14th Avenue and eastbound right turns from Geary onto southbound Funston have been restricted to allow room for two buses to stop in these locations.
Be on the look-out for signage and Changeable Message Signs that will alert you to these new restrictions.
