“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a look ahead to the weekend.

Treasure Island Music Festival
Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Treasure Island

Nestled on the bay, the Treasure Island Music Festival delivers two days of music bliss with a panoramic view. Day 1 features the sounds of electronica along with the beats of Hip-Hop, while day 2 hums with the driving drum beats and guitar rifts of rock and indie rock.

Gathered from across the music spectrum, this year’s line-up plays on two stages with headlining performances by grammy award winners OutKast and multi-time grammy nominee Janelle Monae.

Due to limited parking, event shuttles will provide pick-up and drop-off service to and from the Bill Graham Civic Center. Music fans can also utilize Muni’s 108 Treasure Island Route.

Muni service note: The 108 Treasure Island Route will have additional bus service for both days of the festival from 11a.m. to 7p.m.

Nike Women’s Half Marathon
Sunday, 6 a.m.
Union Square to Marina Green

Join thousands of runners and walkers in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by participating in the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.  This year’s race gets started at Union Square then moves west through Golden Gate Park turning north to the Presidio and finishing up at the Marina Green.

Expect traffic delays and street closures along portions of the course before and during the race.

Muni service note: due to streets closures and heavy pedestrian traffic along the race course the 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, 19 Polk, 29 Sunset, 30 Stockton, 33 Stanyan, 43 Masonic, 44 O”Shaughnessy, and 45 Unoins/Stockton routes will have re-routes. The southbound Powell hyde and Powell Mason cable car lines will switch back at Washington and Powell Streets. Other service route along the race course may experience service delays.

Sunday Streets: The Mission
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Valencia Street between McCoppin and 26th streets

Closing out the 2014 season with its eighth and final event, Sunday Streets returns to The Mission for another round of great food, weather, and vibrant energy.

While most of Valencia Street will be closed to vehicles, cross traffic will be allowed at the intersections of Duboce Avenue, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 24th streets.

Due to street closures, parking will be limited. Consider the F Market, 12 Folsom/Pacific, 14 Mission, 14L Mission Limited, 33 Stanyan, 48 Quintara, and 49 Mission/Van Ness as public transportation alternatives.

Muni service note: The 12 Folsom/Pacific will have a re-route. Expect residual delays on all Muni service in the surrounding areas due to street closures and increased pedestrian traffic.
