Hot Chocolate Run
Sunday, 5k start time at 7:20 AM
Golden Gate Park
Dubbed "America's Sweetest Race," the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k returns to San Francisco this Sunday morning to raise money and support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which works to provide life-changing wishes to children with terminal illnesses. Since its inception in 2008 --when it ran through the streets of Chicago!-- over 200,000 participants have run for the event. Runners will begin the course at the Golden Gate Park Music Concourse, wind their way west through the park before turning south down The Great Highway, eventually returning through the park to the finish line on JFK Drive. A post-race party is held for runners and their families that includes music, games, and, of course, hot chocolate.
How to Get There on Muni: Race participants can take the N Judah Metro Line, as well as the 5 Fulton, 7 Haight/Noriega, 21 Hayes, 33 Ashbury/18th Street, 43 Masonic or the 44 O'Shaughnessy routes close to the starting line in the park.
Muni Service Notes: The 18 46th Avenue and 44 O'Shaughnessy routes will have reroutes while the N Judah Line, 5, 7, 21, 33, and 43 routes may see increased ridership to and from the event.
Upcoming Holiday Reminder: For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 15th Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule. Parking Enforcement will also not issue parking tickets for hour limits in residential permit areas, Monday-Friday daytime street sweeping, or tow cars in commuter tow-away zones.
“On Tap” gives you a heads up about the big events in town and what Muni routes and lines will get you to the party. Look for this feature to be posted usually on Wednesdays for a look ahead to the weekend. Check out our Weekend Traffic & Transit Advisory for more details.
