Event Summary

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is a free, annual music festival that takes place in Golden Gate Park (Hellman Hollow, Marx & Lindley Meadows). Festival hours are from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The SFMTA is working to minimize the transportation impacts around this event by providing attendees a variety of transportation options, including enhanced Muni service, taxi stands and passenger loading zones.

Muni Service Changes

The following Muni lines and routes may be affected during the event: N Judah; 5 Fulton; 5R Fulton Rapid; 7 Haight/Noriega; 18 46th Avenue; 28 19th Avenue; 29 Sunset; and 44 O’Shaughnessy. Due to increased ridership for the event, riders should allow extra travel time on the N Judah line and all bus routes serving Golden Gate Park. Traffic in the area will also be heavy.

Muni will provide extra service to Golden Gate Park in addition to the regular scheduled serviceExtra service may not serve the entire route. See below for the detailed information.

Note: Each night of the festival, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Muni will provide 5R Fulton Rapid service from Fulton & 30th Ave to UN Plaza/Civic Center Station.

Passenger Loading Zones

To avoid congestion, there will be established, temporary passenger loading zones for taxis and for others, including ride-hail vehicles (Lyft, Uber, etc.) and private charter buses, and blackout zones where pick-ups and drop-offs will be strictly prohibited.

Taxi Stands

Don't feel like waiting or searching for a ride-hail vehicle? Take a taxi!

Temporary taxi stands for the event will be in place at the following locations Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 9 p.m.:

  • South side of Fulton between 24th and 26th avenues

Other Loading Zones

The pick-up and drop-off areas for other vehicles, including ride-hail vehicles and private charter buses, are:

  • North of Golden Gate Park, from 2 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday:
    • North side of Balboa, between 30th and 31st avenues
    • West side of 30th Ave, between Anza and Balboa
  • South of Golden Gate Park, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. each day:
    • North side of Irving, between 25th and 26th avenues

Street Closures Impacting Vehicle & Bicycle Traffic

The following roads and bike paths will be closed during the festival. Consult the maps below for details.

  • JFK Dr. between Transverse Dr. and Chain of Lakes Dr.
  • 36th Ave. between Fulton and JFK Dr.
  • 30th Ave. between Fulton and JFK Dr.
  • Transverse Dr. between Crossover Dr. (25th Ave.) and MLK Dr.
  • Overlook Dr. between Transverse and Middle Drive West
  • Middle Drive West between Transverse and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
  • Metson Drive between Middle Drive West and MLK
  • Parking area at Polo Fields at North Stables and on Metson drive (south side of Polo fields)
