The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is replacing a segment of US 101 that crosses over Alemany Circle in San Francisco with an anticipated construction start of April 24th. It is expected that this will be completed within three weeks.
Details can be found online at 101alemanyproject.com
Muni service on the 24-Divisadero, 44-O’Shaughnessy, 8-Bayshore, 9-San Bruno, and 90-OWL routes in the project area will continue, with no changed, added or eliminated stops. However local traffic impacts may affect arrival and departure times. The 8 Bayshore will detour around the work area on 101, with no stop changes.
For drivers, please note that northbound 101 will be diverted to 280. Options for continuing northbound to the Bay Bridge include exiting 280 at Cesar Chavez, at 6th Street, or at King Street in order to reach I-80 via surface streets.
The section of eastbound Alemany underneath the project area will be closed and traffic will be diverted to southbound San Bruno. The entrance to northbound 101 at Alemany will also be closed.
Questions or concerns about construction can be shared with Caltrans by email at info@101alemanyproject.com and by phone at their project hotline (415) 237-3827.
