Service and Parking Enforcement for the Thanksgiving holiday:
Service – On Thanksgiving Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule while on Friday, service will be operating on a non-school weekday schedule (there will be no express route service). For complete details, visit our service alert page.
Holiday Enforcement – On Thanksgiving there will be no enforcement of seven-day street sweeping, residential permit, Monday through Friday street sweeping, commuter tow away or parking meters (including those meters on Port of San Francisco property).
On Friday, seven-day street sweeping and parking meters (including those meters on Port of San Francisco property) will be enforced. Thanksgiving Day 5K Run
Thursday, 7 a.m.
AT&T Park
The thought of Thanksgiving usually brings to mind turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and a bountiful cornucopia, but the Food Bank would like to raise awareness about those that are at risk of going hungry in San Francisco and Marin counties not just during the holiday season but throughout the year. Take part in this year’s Thanksgiving Day 5K Run and help benefit the local food bank.
Turkey Day runners can take the N Judah, T Third, E Embarcadero, F Market, 10 Townsend, 30 Stockton, 45 Van Union/Stockton, 47 Van Ness, 49 Mission/Van Ness and Powell Mason Cable Car Line.
Muni service note: the E Embarcadero and F Market will turn back at Pier 39, while other service routes may see minor delays.
Union Square Tree Lighting
Friday, 6 p.m.
Union Square
A local tradition now in its 26th year, Macy’s annual tree lighting in Union Square has served as the city’s official start to a festive and colorful holiday season. Once the tree is illuminated, venture over to the square’s holiday ice rink and spend some time making an unforgettable, only in San Francisco memory.
Holiday revelers can take the 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, 38 Geary, 38R Geary Rapid, and the Powell Cable Car Line.
Muni service note: Service in the area may experience an increase in ridership resulting in minor service delays.
Winter Walk SF
Friday through January 1, All Day
Stockton Street between Geary and Ellis Street
It was such a big hit last year, Union Square SF is bringing back Winter Walk SF, the open air plaza on two city blocks featuring a colorful nightly light show, Ghirardelli Chocolate samples on Saturdays, festive carols on Thursdays and Saturdays, plus unique food truck selections, not to mention the cute and cuddly animals at Macy's courtesy of the SFSPCA.
If you would like to see whiskers on kittens or buy warm woolen mittens, you can take Muni Metro to Powell Station, any Market Street bus route to Powell Street, the 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, 38 Geary, 38R Geary Rapid, and the Powell Cable Car Line.
Muni service note: Muni routes may see increased ridership.
Construction Reminders:
The Muni Metro subway continues to close early each night at 9:30pm for system upgrades. Metro bus shuttles will operate between St. Francis Circle and Market and Spears streets from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
