Construction Forecast: December 3 - December 15, 2017

The following Van Ness Improvement Project construction forecast is subject to change. For more project details, please visit sfmta.com/vanness.

Tentative Schedule:

Sunday, December 3: Between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. crews will work on updating the emergency firefighting water systems from Vallejo to Green. Neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise, including grinding, as crews work diligently to complete this necessary night work.

Monday, December 4, through Tuesday, December 5: Crews will be surveying sidewalks on Van Ness from McAllister to Sutter street and from Jackson to Lombard. Crews will also be working on the joint trench to power overhead wires for buses from Golden Gate to Turk. Potholing for sewer installation will take place from Jackson to Chestnut.

Between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. crews will work on updating the emergency firefighting water systems from Vallejo to Green. Work to repair street lights will occur from Market to Bush. Neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise, including grinding, as crews work diligently to complete this necessary night work.

Wednesday, December 6, through Friday, December 8: Crews will be surveying sidewalks on Van Ness from McAllister to Sutter street and from Jackson to Lombard. Crews will also be working on the joint trench to power overhead wires for buses from Golden Gate to Turk.

In order to install temporary bus loading platforms, northbound stops on Van Ness at Jackson, Vallejo and Union will shift from overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Signs will direct riders to the temporary stops.

Neighbors are advised to anticipate construction-related noise, including grinding, as crews work diligently to complete this necessary night work. In order to install temporary bus loading platforms, northbound stops on Van Ness at Jackson and Vallejo will shift from overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Signs will direct riders to the temporary stops.

Basement Assessments

Before utility, roadway and sidewalk work begins, the Van Ness Improvement Project team is inspecting Van Ness Avenue basements that may extend below sidewalks.
