Event Summary

The San Francisco 49ers will play the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII (58) this Sunday, February 11. In anticipation of possible celebrations which may interfere with traffic and Muni service. the SFMTA has planned contingency reroutes for multiple bus lines in the Mission District. These reroutes will only be implemented as needed, so be sure to sign up for real-time text and/or email service alerts to receive information on any service changes. The Super Bowl is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at approximately 6:30 p.m. (unless overtime play is required). The following plans may be put into effect as early as 5 p.m. and will remain in place until the streets are clear.

Possible Street Congestion

The following streets have historically been the most likely to be impacted by potential neighborhood celebrations and may be congested after the game concludes::

  • Mission from Cesar Chavez to 15th St.
  • 24th St. from Potrero to Valencia
  • Access to Mission St. may be restricted from Valencia to South Van Ness between 15th and 26th streets
  • Access to 24th St. may be restricted from 23rd to 25th streets between Valencia and Potrero

Muni Service Changes

The following Muni routes may be required to reroute around any street congestion. These reroutes are subject to change depending upon street conditions on the evening of the game.

Note: The Powell/Mason, Powell/Hyde, and California cable car lines will be serviced by buses starting at approximately 4:30 p.m. until the end of service.
