Service Change Summary

Read below for details on upcoming Muni service changes including stop relocations, route extensions, stop renaming and more that will take effect beginning with the start of service on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

1 California Route

Effective Monday, June 12, 2023, the 1 California short route between Presidio Avenue and Drumm Street will return to service to add capacity on the segment of the route with the highest ridership to reduce crowding. 1 California short route will operate weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 15-minute intervals.

1X California Express Route

Effective Monday, June 12, 2023, Muni will add stops to the 1X California Express Route on California Street between Presidio Avenue and Arguello Boulevard in the morning (inbound) and in the afternoon (outbound). These additional stops are prompted by feedback from the public and will provide a quicker ride to and from Downtown as well as help relieve crowding on the 1 California Route for riders east of Presidio. Additionally, there will be five trips (increased from three) in the mornings, beginning earlier at 7:15 a.m., with the last inbound bus leaving its terminal at 8:20 a.m. There will be no change to the afternoon schedule.

5 Fulton Express Route

Effective Saturday night, June 10, the 5 Fulton Owl Service will be extended from McAllister at Jones Streets to 4th at Market to accommodate an ongoing street closure on Golden Gate Avenue and improve safety and operator restroom access at the inbound terminal.

This change will also improve access to the Southeast Community Center and other services such as Lucky's Supermarket, Goodwill, and Union and Wells Fargo banks.

27 Bryant Route

Effective Saturday, June 10, 2023, the 27 Bryant will begin serving the Valencia at 24th Street stop in the inbound direction to improve access to Valencia Street (formerly served by the 12 Folsom/Pacific).
