Service Change Summary
Effective with the start of service on Saturday, September 28, Muni will implement a series of changes to Metro service, including the return of L Taraval rail service between SF Zoo and Embarcadero Station, stop changes for L Owl bus service, K Ingleside and M Ocean View rail lines. L Taraval Service Changes
L Taraval rail service from the SF Zoo to Embarcadero Station returns, once again providing riders with a single-seat ride from out by the ocean to the heart of Downtown.

The L Owl will service the new boarding island stops along Taraval, as detailed in the table below. Please consult the L Owl route page for the complete list of all L Owl stops.

L Owl Stop Changes Map
Early Morning Combined L Taraval/M Ocean View Service
In the mornings, prior to the opening of the Market Street subway, Muni will combine (interline) the L Taraval and M Ocean View lines on the street-level. This interlined service will operate along the M Ocean View between Balboa Park Station and Ulloa St & West Portal Ave and along the L Taraval between Wawona St & 46th Ave and Ulloa St & Lenox Way, just outside of West Portal Station. Riders traveling toward downtown should transfer to a K Ingleside bus at Ulloa St & West Portal Ave, or take the southbound L/M train to Balboa Park Station and transfer to BART.
Note: The headsigns on interlined trains will display as "M Ocean View to West Portal," "M Ocean View to Balboa Park," "L Taraval to West Portal," or "L Taraval to SF Zoo" according to their current destination.
K Ingleside Service & Stop Changes
As part of the K Ingleside Rapid Project, the K Ingleside Line will operate two-car trains in the westbound direction, toward Balboa Park, as far as the City College pedestrian bridge before the second car is taken out of service. Any passengers on board the second train car at the City College Pedestrian Bridge stop will be instructed to move to the first train car. The train operator will then the doors of the second car before resuming service toward Balboa Park. This will help improve travel times and reliability of all rail lines exiting West Portal Station, as K Ingleside trains will no longer need to conduct this change from two- to one-car service at the station or at St. Francis Circle.
In addition, there will be two permanent stop removals -- one in each service direction -- to help improve travel times. See the table below for the stop closure information.

M Ocean View Stop Changes
As part of the M Ocean View Transit and Safety Project, the eastbound and westbound stop on San Jose Avenue and Mt. Vernon Avenue will be permanently discontinued in an effort to improve travel times and reliability. The table below provides alternate stop location information.
