March to End All Slaughterhouses

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, animal rights acitivists will host the "March to Close All Slaughterhouses." The march will go from Union Square to UN Plaza via Powell and Market streets. Participants will begin gathering at Union Square around 9 a.m. The march will begin between 10 and 10:30 a.m. The march is expected to clear Market Street around 12 p.m.

On Market Street, the march will be in the two westbound/outbound lanes; eastbound/inbound lanes will remain open. During the march, Muni will reroute several routes in the outbound direction, including the Train Testing Bus Bridge; the F Market & Wharves historic streetcar will not serve downtown and the Powell/Mason and Powell/Hyde cable cars will not serve Powell Street. Reroutes

Starting at 10:30 a.m., the following Muni routes will only reroute in the outbound direction. Once Market Street is clear, the routes will return to normal.

Note: Alternate stops will be at existing Muni stops for other lines.

Switchbacks

These lines and routes will turnaround before they reach the demonstration area. These impacts will start at different times, but will return to normal once the streets are clear.

Note: For the F Market & Wharves, transfer to the Train Testing Bus Bridge at Steuart & Market or Market & Van Ness.

Potential Reroute

Depending on the size of the crowd, the 8 Bayshore may reroute around Market Street via The Embarcadero. If rerouted, the information below details which stops will be missed.
