L Taraval Improvement Project Work Forecast July 27 - August 7, 2020

Work Forecast Plan for the Weeks of July 27 to August 7, 2020

Details of Work Performed:
  • Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will excavate small exploratory holes to verify the locations of existing underground utilities on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 on Taraval Street between 46th and 48th Avenue. 
  • Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will perform maintenance work on 44th Avenue between Taraval and Santiago Street starting Monday, July 27.
  • Lower Great Highway between Taraval and Santiago Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 for material delivery. This work should last for approximately one to two hours.
  • Continuation of sewer main replacement is planned for the weeks of:
    • July 27-31 between 37th Avenue and 36th Avenue (northside)
  • Continuation of water line replacement is planned for the weeks of: 
    • July 27-29 between 38th and 37th Avenue (northside)
  • Excavation of small exploratory holes to verify the locations of existing underground utilities is planned for:
    • July 27-31 between 46th and 45th Avenue (southside)
  • Continuation of sidewalk curb ramp work is planned for:
    • July 29 between 45th and 43rd Avenue (southside)
    • July 30-31 and August 3-7 between 43rd and 41st Avenue (southside)
    • July 27-29 between 40th and 39th Avenue (southside)
    • July 27-31 and August 3-7 between 38th and 37th Avenue (southside)
    • July 31 and August 3-7 between 37th and 36th Avenue (southside)
  • Electrical conduit work for traffic signal, streetlights, and etc. is planned for:
    • July 27 between 48th and 47th Avenue (southside)
    • July 27 between 46th and 41st Avenue (southside)
    • July 27-29 between 39th and 38th Avenue (southside)
  • Installation of streetlight fixtures is planned for:
    • July 27-28 between 47th and 46th Avenue (northside)
    • July 27-28 between 44th and 41st Avenue (northside)
    • July 29-31 between 39th and 37th Avenue (northside)
    • August 3-4 between 48th and 46th Avenue (southside)
    • July 27-28 and August 3-4 between 46th and 42nd Avenue (southside)
    • July 29-31 between 41st and 36th Avenue (southside)
  • Installation of Muni overhead contact system (OCS) pole is planned for:
    • July 30-31 between 47th and 45th Avenue (southside)
    • July 30-31 between 41st and 40th Avenue (southside)
    • July 30 between 38th and 36th Avenue (southside)
    • July 30-31 and August 3-4 on 46th and 47th Avenue between Wawona and Vicente Street 
  • Removal of existing Muni overhead contact system (OCS) pole is planned for:
    • August 8 between 46th Avenue to Sunset Boulevard (northside)
    • August 8 between 46th Avenue to Sunset Boulevard (southside)
  • Infrastructure restoration at Sunset Boulevard boarding island on July 28-31
  • Installation of temporary accessible boarding ramp on July 30-31 between 33rd and 32nd Avenue (southside)
What to Expect:

Excavation requires jackhammering of the pavement. Dust control measures will be in place to prevent dust kick up from the work.

Heavy vibrations from the shoring and sheet piling work is expected for open trench work.

Location and Time of Work:
  • Northside of Taraval Street between 48th and 36th Avenue; 44th Avenue between Taraval and Santiago Street

    Southside of Taraval between 48th and 36th Avenue 

  • Both sides of 46th Avenue and 47th Avenue between Wawona and Vicente Street.

  • Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ; Saturday to Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Traffic Impacts:

Some parking will be temporarily restricted in construction zones and traffic lanes will be modified during active work. 

Lower Great Highway between Taraval and Santiago Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 for material delivery. This should last for approximately one to two hours. Parking will be temporarily restricted during work hours but will be returned at the end of each work day.
