Bay to Breakers Express Service

On Sunday, May 21st, Muni will be offering extra service to get you to Bay to Breakers and back.

Extra service will supplement the N-Judah, the 5-Fulton, and the 38-Geary. The added service may not show on NextMuni predictions and will not be available on the 511 Transit website schedules or trip plans.

Regular Muni bus and rail fares apply.

to Caltrain		 6:00 am to 8:00 am Serving regular stops starting at 19th Avenue.
NX-Judah Express

to Downtown		 6:00 am to 8:00 am Serving N-Judah Stops until 19th Avenue,

then Express to Downtown
5R-Fulton Rapid

to Downtown		 6:30 am to 8:00 am Serving regular 5R stops.

In addition to express service, the Muni Metro Subway will open at 6:00 am to provide extra service to downtown.

Muni Pre-Race fare sales

Muni passes are also available for purchase on the Alaska Airlines Bay to Breakers Registration page. These passes are valid all day on race day on Muni services (excluding cable car). 

SFMTA staff will also sell special fare Muni pass stickers at the Bay to Breakers Expo at Pier 35 on:

  • Friday, May 19th: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, May 20th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Muni special fare sticker allows customers unlimited access to all SFMTA regular and express route service (except Cable Cars) on Sunday, May 21st until 5:00 pm.

5X-Fulton Express

to Metro-BART		 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Express service. No stops between:

  • Fulton & La Playa
  • Civic Center Station

Muni Post-race fare sales

From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, SFMTA staff will sell regular Muni fares at the following locations:

  • Bay to Breakers Finish Line Festival
  • Friends and Family Meet-Up Area located on the Great Highway
  • 47th Avenue & Fulton
  • Judah & 48th Avenue

To expedite boarding on Muni vehicles, customers are encouraged to use their Clipper cards. Proof-of-payment will be in effect on all Muni service.
