May Day Events

On Monday, May 1st, there will be multiple planned or anticipated events for International Workers' Day. The main event, A Day Without Immigrants, is a march from Justin Herman Plaza to Civic Center Plaza. Marchers will gather starting at 11:00 a.m.; the march will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Market Street. There will be a rally at Civic Center Plaza at 2:00 p.m.

Other events are taking place leading up the main march on Market Street:

  • SF Strike ICE, 630 Sansome, starting at 8:00 a.m.
  • ILWU, 400 North Point, starting at 9:00 a.m.

From 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. (or until the marched is cleared), Market Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and Muni will reroute transit lines that travel on or across Market Street east of 10th Street. This map shows the march route and Muni reroutes. Customers can expect delays and are encouraged to use the Muni Metro subway to enter or leave the downtown area.

Van Ness Station: F to Castro, 5, 6, 19, 27, 47, 49, 7. From 5, 21.

Powell Station: 31, 38/38R. To/from Caltrain only: 30. On Mission: 5, 7, 9, 9R, 14, 14R.

Montgomery Station: 2. On Mission: 5, 7, 9, 9R, 14, 14R.

Embarcadero Station: F to Fishermans Wharf, 1, 8, 10, 12

The 30 and 45 north of downtown will not connect with the Market Street subway.
