North Beach Utility Relocation
Construction associated with the Central Subway tunnel is now underway in North Beach. To keep the North Beach community informed during the upcoming months as construction proceeds, we'll be emailing weekly updates that include pertinent information -- construction lookaheads, traffic impacts, project fun facts and more.

Work Completed Aug. 20-24
This week the contractor has been working to relocate underground Muni and AT&T conduit structures on Columbus Avenue between Union and Powell.
Traffic impacts: To accommodate construction, the right lane for northbound traffic has been closed during construction hours (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), and the crosswalk crossing Union Street was temporarily detoured on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Transit impacts: The northbound bus stop on Columbus Avenue at Union Street will now be in service from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and at all times on Saturdays and Sundays.
Planned Construction Aug. 27-31
Next week the contractor will continue relocating the AT&T and Muni conduit structures on Columbus Avenue between Union and Powell.
Traffic impacts: To accommodate construction, the right lane for northbound traffic on Columbus Avenue will be closed during construction hours (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Work will also be underway within the intersection of Columbus and Union. Traffic controls will be in place, but no lanes on Union Street will be closed.
Transit impacts: On weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the westbound bus stop on Union Street at Columbus Avenue will be temporarily relocated to the middle of the block, approximately 100 feet to the east of its regular location.
