Over the past several months we've been busy talking to Muni riders, business owners, community groups and residents about our pedestrian safety and Muni reliability proposals for the 22 Fillmore Transit Priority Project along 16th Street. Based on community feedback and additional technical analysis, our proposals have evolved to better meet the needs of the diverse array of people using the street every day. We owe a special thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the proposal!

Transit Only Lane Recommendation
After the community engagement process and development of the final design, it was decided to pursue a new hybrid project alternative rather than the Expanded Alternative Variants (exclusive center or side running transit-only lanes). The new hybrid project incorporates ideas from both alternatives resulting in an exclusive side running westbound transit-only lane from 3rd street to Church Street. In the eastbound direction, the transit-only lane will be center running from Potrero to 7th Street, then side running from 7th the 3rd street.
The final proposal will be subject to a public hearing on October 30, followed by legislation at the SFMTA Board of Directors.
