As part of San Francisco Public Works’ Telegraph Hill Blvd and Coit Tower Parking Lot Reconstruction project, they will be upgrading streets and sidewalks in the Coit Tower area. Work includes:
- Reconstructing the Coit Tower parking lot
- Reconstructing a portion of the street base on Telegraph Hill Boulevard
- Curb-to-curb repaving of Telegraph Hill Boulevard between Kearny Street and the Coit Tower parking lot.
- Three new, ADA-compliant curb ramps at the parking lot atop Telegraph Hill Boulevard, near the entrance of Coit Tower
Muni Service Impacts
Some of this work will require Muni’s 39-Coit route to be temporarily shortened. The 39-Coit will not serve Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill Boulevard or Coit Tower during these times:
- March 13 - March 28 - To accommodate reconstruction of the outer ring of the parking lot on top of Telegraph Hill Boulevard
- April 3 - April 11 - Anticipated closure to accommodate street base work and repaving on Telegraph Hill Boulevard (subject to change)
The closest 39-Coit stop to Coit Tower will be at Union and Montgomery. Use the stairs at Filbert between Telegraph and Montgomery.
Riders along the missed segments of the 39-Coit can use the stop at Stockton & Lombard or Union & Montgomery.
The SFMTA and Public Works are working together closely to minimize disruptions to the public. For example, with creative phasing of the project we have been able to reduce Muni service reroutes from over 10 weeks to about 4 weeks total.
