Between September 2024 and March 2025, the Muni Funding Working Group reviewed policy options on efficiency improvements, new funding sources, service cuts, and service enhancements. The SFMTA then bundled the individual options into six packages, which the Working Group reviewed and prioritized in the final workshop.
On April 22, 2025, the SFMTA and the Controller's Office will present the results of the Muni Funding Working Group at the annual SFMTA Board of Directors Workshop. The Controller's Office will publish a summary of final recommendations in Spring 2025.
The Controller's Office led and facilitated a working group that includes the Mayor’s Office, Board of Supervisors, Controller, SFMTA leadership, community partners, and members of the public to gather public input, identify solutions, and provide recommendations to address the near-term and medium-term funding gap.
