For the past month, we have been busy putting the final touches on the Valencia Bikeway design and preparing to bring it to the SFMTA Board. Tomorrow, we will ask the Board to approve the plan. Read on for what this means.
MTAB Hearing on November 19
The SFMTA Board of Directors will vote tomorrow on our proposed side-running bikeway during their regular meeting. We’re excited to show the details of the design, as well as go through the results of the in-depth outreach we’ve conducted over the past year to create a plan that we believe works for everyone – whether you are a business, resident or cyclist on Valencia.
The meeting begins at 1 p.m. in Room 400 at San Francisco City Hall, and we anticipate the Valencia item to be discussed around 2 p.m. You can watch the meeting virtually or join us in person and share your thoughts during public comment. More details about the meeting and how to participate can be found at SFMTA.com/Board.
Construction Timing
Assuming that the SFMTA Board approves the plan during tomorrow’s meeting, we hope to begin construction in January 2025. Staff have been doing preliminary planning for the past few months so that we can begin quickly – we know construction can be disruptive, and our goal is to make it as quick and smooth as possible. We will need to remove the center-running bikeway and install the new side-running bikeway, so there are multiple pieces of work that we need to schedule efficiently with the SFMTA shops and Public Works.
