Valencia Bikeway Improvements (19th Street to Cesar Chavez) Project Update – March 2020

Share this:

Thank you to all of the community members that attended last week’s Valencia Bikeway Improvements Project Open House and Public Hearing. Overall, we had over 400 people drop-in at the event as well over 300 public comments and over 100 emails providing their feedback about the project proposals to implement parking-protected bikeways on Valencia Street between 19th Street to Cesar Chavez. Comments received included those in support, neutral and in opposition of the project. Comments in favor generally expressed interest in protected bikeways on this section of the corridor. Comments in opposition generally expressed concerns regarding parking removal in front of businesses and residences.

The materials from the event are available here.

Next Steps

SFMTA staff are currently following up with stakeholders to address comments and concerns where possible, without compromising the safety of the overall design. The final project proposals will be heard by the SFMTA Board of Directors for potential approval in Spring 2020.  We will follow-up as soon as possible with a confirmed date for this meeting, pending a complete review and assessment of the comments received to date.
