On February 21, 2022, the SFMTA successfully completed its initial public survey for the Visitacion Valley and Portola Community Based Transportation Plan (CBTP). We are now in the process of analyzing all the information we received to identify themes, common concerns, needs and recommendations.
We’ve tabulated hundreds of survey responses. We also hosted over a dozen public outreach pop-ups, focus groups and public meetings, in addition to the survey.
This initial community feedback will help us develop proposals to address and incorporate the values, priorities and needs of the Visitacion Valley and Portola communities. To learn more about the goals of the CBTP visit SFMTA.com/VisValleyPortolaPlan.
Next Steps
Once the themes, common concerns, needs and recommendations have been identified, we will share a comprehensive report out about what we’ve learned from the survey with the public. We will use what we learn as the building blocks to develop potential plan options. Then we will vet these options with the community and hold additional public engagement events to get more feedback to improve and refine our proposals. This will be part of the second phase of the project.
In the third phase of the project, we aim to have a proposal that is deeply informed by the community that we will present to the community for final approval and implementation.
We will continue to work hand-in-hand with community-based partners to help us reach out to as many community members as possible and make all information available in multiple languages and formats to improve accessibility and encourage broad community participation.
We are grateful to all our community-based partners, stakeholders and every person in the Visitacion Valley and Portola neighborhoods who have engaged with us so far. Your participation is vital to the success of the Visitacion Valley and Portola Community Based Transportation Plan.
