L Taraval Improvement Project

Segment B Update – July 15 - 27, 2024

The L Taraval Improvement Project is on track to be completed this fall. The most disruptive work to replace sewer, water, rail lines, streetbase and repaving the entire corridor has been completed. We have completed our initial round of train testing and are preparing for the next round of testing the end of July.

We are completing installation of the final remaining boarding island with decorative pavers and adding landscaping, artwork and safety features such as high-visibility crosswalks.

The Overhead Contact System (OCS) lines have been energized for testing of trains. Workers are in the area testing ground conduits and infrastructure to accommodate trains. If you are driving or working in the area, please stay alert around trains and crews during testing.

To ensure the safety of the public, a permit is required for any contractors that are planning to work within 10 feet of the overhead wires. Please reach out to the project team with any questions: LTaravalProject@SFMTA.com or 415.646.2379

General construction hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Construction schedules are subject to change. “No Parking” signs will be posted in construction and staging areas.
