July 24: Transit Shelter Hearing
SF Public Works will hold a public hearing on proposed new 38/38R Geary bus shelters on Wednesday, July 24th at 10:00am via Zoom. These proposed shelters will replace the ones that were removed when bus stops were relocated across the street from the near-side to the far-side of the intersections last fall. You are invited to provide any feedback about the proposed shelters in writing or via attending the hearing. After the hearing, if approved, shelters would be installed later this summer.

Relocated bike-share location and new parking on 14th Avenue
The sidewalk on 14th Avenue, south of Geary, was recently expanded to make room to relocate the bike share station from the roadway onto the new sidewalk. When Lyft completes the bike share station relocation later this month, three more vehicle parking spaces will become available. This parking addition was a part of the project’s approach to partially offset parking that was removed along Geary Boulevard when angled parking was converted to parallel parking to make room for transit lanes.

New Temporary Bus Bulb-out at Geary and 25th Avenue
In June we installed a new temporary bus bulb-out at Geary and 25th Avenue. This provides inbound 38 Geary riders more space to wait for the bus and allows buses to pull up directly to the curb to load and unload passengers without having to leave the transit lane. It also provides space for a bus shelter to be installed. The full permanent concrete sidewalk widening will happen along with other planned bus and pedestrian bulb-outs in 2027, after underground SFPUC water and sewer upgrades [MOU6] are complete.
