Fulton Street Safety & Transit Project: Progress Report (March 25, 2025)

The Fulton Street Safety and Transit Project is about 75% complete as of March 24, 2025.

There are four intersections of focus within the Fulton Street Safety and Transit Project. At each intersection, there are three general types of work that construction crews perform: 

Demolition: Removing sections of the old sidewalk and streets. 

Construction: Installing things like...  

  • Sidewalk extensions (also known as bulb-outs)
  • Curbs and curb ramps
  • Bus pads
  • Drains for storm water
  • New traffic signals

Restoration: Repairing the street, rebuilding the sidewalk, and... 

  • Reinstalling bus shelters and trash cans that were removed during demolition
  • General cleanup

Here is a summary of what has been done at each intersection so far, as of March 24, 2025:

Fulton Street & 6th Avenue 

  • Demolition: Complete
  • Construction: About 95% Complete
  • Restoration: In progress
  • Remaining Work: Traffic signal pole and traffic signal installation

Fulton Street & 8th Avenue 

  • Demolition: Complete
  • Construction: About 95% complete
  • Restoration: In progress
  • Remaining Work:Traffic signal pole and bus shelter installation

Fulton Street & 10th Avenue

  • Demolition: In progress
  • Construction: In progress (about 30% complete)
  • Restoration: Will begin soon
  • Remaining Work: Northwest and southeast corner improvements + traffic pole installation

Fulton Street & Arguello Boulevard

  • Demolition: Complete
  • Construction: About 95% complete
  • Restoration: In progress
  • Remaining Work: Traffic signal pole and bus shelter installation
