Muni Metro Turnback Rail Rehabilitation Project
Construction Work at the Tunnel Entrance to Embarcadero Station
Third Shutdown Scheduled for Labor Day Weekend
The underground work to replace aging tracks and enhance transit reliability and efficiency through the tunnel by Embarcadero Station continues. A third shutdown has been scheduled to take place beginning at the start of service on Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2. Muni rail service between Embarcadero and Mission Rock stations via Caltrain (4th & King) will be served by a shuttle bus. T Third line trains will operate between Sunnydale and Mission Rock stations only, and the N Judah line will only operate between Ocean Beach and Embarcadero Station. K Ingleside trains will turn back toward Ingleside at Embarcadero Station.
Shuttle bus service will operate between Embarcadero Station (Market between Steuart/Spear streets) via 4th & King streets, and Mission Rock Station. The bus stops will be located at the curbside.
Muni Customers are advised to allow extra travel time, and to expect to transfer to/from shuttle buses and rail for some destinations.
Motorists and bicyclists should expect slower traffic. Some street parking removal will be necessary at King & 2nd, Mission Rock & 3rd, Folsom & Embarcadero and Market & Spear/Stuart streets.
Regular rail service would resume on Tuesday morning, September 3.
